I was born at 1:01am at Caldwell Memorial hospital 34 years ago today. Expectations ensure that birthdays are always interesting days. This year I set the expectation that my birthday wasn't going to be a big deal. Just quiet and mellow. Hmmm, not sure what I was thinking with that one. First of all I rarely do anything from a quiet and mellow space and secondly, I LIKE to be a big deal. So I spent the whole morning sitting around being bummed that nothing special was happening. Silly Sally! Finally I kicked it into gear and took a nice shower and spent a few hours beautifying myself. Straightening my hair, putting on makeup (I think it had been almost 3 months with anything but lip gloss), picking out jewelry, my outfit, painting my nails, I was beautiful! All dressed up and nowhere to go? No way. Made Goldy's lunch plans with a friend and hopped on my bike. My cruiser always puts a smile on my face no matter how down I am. Came home to a beautiful bouquet from my husband. My 8 year license finally expired today so I decided to go to the DMV and finally change my name after being married for two and a half years. I think I took the best drivers license picture I have ever seen. Then, at my husbands prompting, we decided to throw together an impromptu birthday dinner at Tepanyaki's. SO yummy! Tepanyaki's used to be what I called my healthy restaurant because it was the only place I would eat vegetables:). My how times change. And the list goes on... Feeling totally spoiled we went across the street to Joe's Crab Shack and had their bananas foster, OMG!
What a day! So much for no big deal. I blew my 75%/25% food ratio out of the water but it tasted so delicious. I wish I could explain to my body that everyone deserves a day to do whatever they want and escape the consequences. It isn't like I want to rob a liquor store or shoot up heroin, just some good ol' grease and sweets. Well we shall see how I feel tomorrow. I am excited about starting a new year with a new attitude, a new name, a new look!

It sounds like the PERFECT Birthday Sally! I like to keep it fun and casual too. I think the 75/25 ratio is a great guideline except on Birthdays. The only thing different I do is schedule a facial/ massage. Good job on the license too!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so with you on the facial/massage. My good friend Erin owns Eclectic Salon and gave me a facial and helped me change my look for my birthday/xmas present. As soon as the job becomes a reality bodywork will happen once a month. I am thinking a rotating schedule because I have several different things I want to try; chiropractic, massage, acupuncture plus a few others.
